The promise of a new day

Its beauty unfolds

I woke up this morning to a spectacular sunrise; its magnificence something my photos couldn’t even begin to truly capture. I was completely entranced, and sat out on my deck on a 40 degree morning to watch its beauty morph and unfold.

What is it about a sunrise that has me so enamored? As I’ve settled into retirement, I find myself finding joy in the simple things; things that I now have time to enjoy and that remind me how beautiful life is. Perhaps that is why I find myself savoring the beauty of a sunrise so often. Watching a sunrise as its beauty transforms the sky with the promise of a new day reminds me that we are only promised today; life is to be lived to the fullest and meant to be cherished.

Every new day is a gift; a new beginning. A day to find joy.
