Welcome to my blog!

When I retired two and a half years ago, I was more than ready to have more time to spend with the people and things I love. I am fortunate to have had a career I was passionate about. However, as I climbed the ranks from classroom teacher, to school administrator, to district administrator, and finally to superintendent of schools – the more the time I had outside of work continued to decline.

As I was contemplating retirement, there seemed to be a school of thought that retirement would be a difficult transition for someone with such a demanding career. I even wondered myself if I would find the transition to be challenging. However, once the decision was made, I never looked back. I began to embrace all the things I had little time for as my career had progressed: my family, my grandchildren, my friends, traveling, reading, playing the piano, cooking, creating recipes, hiking, sewing, entertaining, creative projects, and the list goes on.

My retirement lifestyle blog is a passion project of mine; a way to creatively express myself in writing and share how I’m enjoying my life in retirement. Whether you’re thinking about retirement or already retired, I hope you’ll find inspiration in my blog to enrich your own retirement journey!

I have to admit, I wondered how you’d adjust to retirement, but it’s clear you’re fully embracing all those aspects of yourself that you didn’t always get to enjoy during the final years of your career. You make retirement look genuinely enjoyable! I just wish I didn’t have another 25 years to go before I can join you!

Lori, It’s great to hear from you and to know how you are so enjoying your retirement.

Your beautiful sunrise photo was a reminder to me of my year as governor of the Dakotas, Minnesota and Manitoba district of Optimist International.
My theme for the year was ‘ The Best New Day’ , which was everyday and was represented by sunrise pictures accompanied by a positive quote and were posted on all correspondence . The ongoing enforcement resulted in a very positive result for our district! Thank you for bringing back those memories of the past. Don Stover, Rushmore Noon Optimist. District Governor 2014-2015
